Starstone Isle, also known as the Isle of Kortos, is a significant location in the world of Golarion. It was raised from the depths of the Inner Sea by the legendary hero Aroden, who, upon interacting with the Starstone—a powerful and alien artifact—emerged as a living god. Aroden then established the city of Absalom on the isle, which has grown to become one of the largest and most important metropolises in Golarion, often referred to as the "City at the Center of the World."
The isle is known for its diverse and often dangerous regions, including the harsh deserts of The Scrape, the boggy Dunmire, and the treacherous Immenwood. It is home to a wide variety of creatures, including minotaurs, harpies, centaurs, and even the occasional dragon. The Aeon Towers, built by Aroden to house the aeon orbs that once enriched the land, stand as ancient and partially broken reminders of the isle's past glory.
Absalom dominates the isle, both politically and culturally, but the surrounding regions are often lawless and wild, with various factions vying for control. The Kortos Consortium, for example, has strong ties with the Inlanders, who live in the more remote areas of the isle.
The Starstone Cathedral, located in the heart of Absalom, is a place of immense significance. It is the site where many have attempted to undergo the Test of the Starstone in hopes of attaining godhood, though few have succeeded.
